Remixes are one of those things I’ve found myself always torn over. I always think you should listen to tracks the way they were originally written/recorded and then occasionally a really good one comes along and I have a mini-crisis about exactly why I boycott remixes on principle opposed to merit.

And then James Rutledge remixed the entirety of Everything Everything’s ‘Arc’ into a 6 minute track of continuous bliss that’s better than the album. And I had to throw everything I thought about remixes away.

The track takes different samples from throughout the album and runs them almost seamlessly together. Although there’s moments where you can pick out where the sample originates from, you won’t find yourself wanting to listen to that track over this one. Instead Rutledge has brought all the different emotions and concepts that built up ‘Arc‘, deconstructed them and reassembled them into his own version of the album.
